Prepare the filling
Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add sesame oil, then sauté garlic until fragrant.
Add ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and ground ginger. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and the sauce thickens slightly. Remove from heat and let it cool.
Assemble the buns
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the dough into small circles.
Place a spoonful of beef mixture in the center of each dough piece. Top with a sprinkle of mozzarella and a pinch of Parmesan.
Pinch the edges of the dough together to seal and form a bun.
Bake
Arrange the buns on a baking sheet, seam-side down. Brush each with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and fluffy.
These buns pair well with an Asian-inspired slaw for a complete meal.
Feel free to use any cheese you have in your fridge—just be sure it’s a good melting variety for that irresistible gooey texture.
While sesame oil adds great flavor, it can be expensive. You can use vegetable oil and add a little more garlic or ginger to compensate for the missing flavor.
If you're feeding a larger crowd, make smaller bite-size burger bombs.
